一氧化碳 (carbon monoxide, CO)純品為無色、無臭、無刺激性的氣體。在水中的溶解度甚低，但易溶于氨水。一氧化碳進(jìn)入人體之后會(huì)和血液中的血紅蛋白結(jié)合，進(jìn)而使血紅蛋白不能與氧氣結(jié)合，從而引起機(jī)體組織出現(xiàn)缺氧，導(dǎo)致人體窒息死亡。因此一氧化碳具有毒性。常見于家庭居室通風(fēng)差的情況下，煤爐產(chǎn)生的煤氣或液化氣管道漏氣或工業(yè)生產(chǎn)煤氣以及礦井中的一氧化碳吸入而致中毒。
