Haohan Chromatography (Shandong) Applied Technology Development Co., Ltd. discussed the methanol content inspection method (the first method) of the 2015 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Method: Using ethanol solution instead of water as the solvent to prepare methanol reference solution, using gas chromatography and headspace sampling method to determine the amount of methanol in ethanol preparations. Results: The improved method was verified by methodology, the recovery rate was 99.3%, and the RSD of the repeatability test was 2.9%. Conclusion: The improved method matches the matrix of the reference solution and the sample solution, and the measured value is closer to the true content of methanol in the sample. It is recommended that the improved method be used to determine the amount of methanol in ethanol-containing preparations.
