This standard specifies the classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and signs, packaging, transportation, and storage conditions of fatty alkyl dimethyl tertiary amines. This standard applies to fatty alkyl dimethyl tertiary amines (N,N-dimethyl alkyl tertiary amines) made from fatty alcohols or fatty acids. This standard does not apply to fatty alkyl dimethyl tertiary amines prepared from oxo alcohols. The applicable tertiary amines are mainly used for the preparation of cationic surfactants, zwitterionic surfactants and nonionic surfactants.
